THE TALENT: SINGER/SONGWRITER MELAENA CADIZ

Melaena’s expansive voice — an instrument as powerful as her flawless guitar-plucking — can hypnotize you one moment and rattle your bones the next. Her original songs evoke characters wrestling with emotions that haunt us all — love and sadness, desire and defeat.

This beautiful singer/songwriter/guitarist, born in Michigan, based in Brooklyn, has played venues across America. Her latest album, Deep Below Heaven, a line snatched from a Sam Shepard short story, is both literary and heavenly.

American Songwriter described her as ” vintage Bob Dylan meets Emmy Lou Harris.” One thing’s for sure: Melaena weaves a mix of folk, pop and country that’ll put a spell on you…for life.
